Lawn Mower Blades

Ever wondered how often you should sharpen your lawn mower blades? If you aren’t that particular about your lawn, sharpening the blades to your lawn mower may seem like a waste of time. But the sharper the blades, the more clean the cut and the healthier your lawn will be! So the answer to this question varies depending on what kind of lawn you are wanting.

What’s the bare minimum? At the very least, you should sharpen your blades every season. This will ensure you’re not cutting your grass in vain and keep the mower blades in good enough condition to get the job done. We highly recommend, however, doing more than the minimum so that your lawn looks nice and healthy! If you love your lawn like we do, sharpen those blades once every 25 hours of mowing. (If you mow once a week for 30 min. to an hour, that’s about every 25 cuts.)

Remember, between sharpenings, take good care of your blades so they won’t need to be sharpened more often. Only mow grass (don’t run your lawn mower on your driveway!), mow when the lawn is dry (not right after it rains!), and take a rag and wipe down the blades periodically to keep them clean.
